SPINELLO ARETINO ( 1350 - 1410 )
Spinello Aretino fue un pintor del renacimiento Italiano, discípulo de Jacobo del Cansentino su obra es un reflejo de la de Giotto, en sus primeros años trabajó en Floréncia para posteriormente seguir en Arezzo su ciudad natal dónde fallecería en 1410.
Spinello Aretino was a painter of the Italian Renaissance, he was a disciple of Jacobo del Cansentino and his work in reflection of thar of Giotto, in his early years he worked in Florence to later continue in Arezzo his hometown where he died in 1410.
ICONOGRAFÍA / ICONOGRAPHY:
El retrato muestra al artista de perfil derecho, con un gorro tradicional florentino estilo mazzocchio y una túnica drapeada. Esta iconografía deriva directamente del retrato grabado en madera incluido en la edición Torrentino/Giunti de 1568 de Le Vite de' più eccellenti pittori, scultori, e architettori de Giorgio Vasari. Sin embargo, mientras que el original de 1568 era un grabado en madera (xilografia) enmarcado en un elaborado marco decorativo alegórico, esta lámina es un grabado en cobre independiente (incisione a bulino/acquaforte).
The portrait shows the artist in right profile, wearing a traditional Florentine mazzocchio-style cap and draped tunic. This iconography directly derives from the woodcut portrait included in the 1568 Torrentino/Giunti edition of Giorgio Vasari's Le Vite de' più eccellenti pittori, scultori, e architettori. However, while the 1568 original was a woodcut (xilografia) set within an elaborate allegorical decorative frame, this sheet is a standalone copper engraving (incisione a bulino/acquaforte).
