Eduardo II fue rey de Inglaterra desde 1307 a 1325 o 27, su política de favorecer a sus favoritos y posicionarse en contra de los nobleza le hizo ganar muchos opositores, en 1325/27 fue depuesto y asesinado en el castillo de Berkeley.
Edward II was king of England from 1307 to 1325-27, his policy of favouring his favourites and taking a stand against the nobility won him many opponents, in 1325-27 he was deposed and assassinated at Berkeley Castle.

La estampa emplea un marco clasicista y alegórico típico del retrato histórico del siglo XVIII:
El retrato: Eduardo II aparece de medio cuerpo, ligeramente girado a la derecha, mirando al frente. Luce una corona medieval estilizada, un collar/cadena de cargo ricamente ornamentado y sostiene un cetro con flor de lis en la mano izquierda.
