Franciscus Guilielmus, Franz Wilhelm von Wartenberg, Principe Episcopal de Osnabruck, Verden, Minden y Ratisbona, I Duque de Baviera y Vicario apostólico de Bremen, fue uno de los que ratificaron el tratado de Wesfalia en 1648 dando fin a la denominada guerra de los treinta años .
Franciscus Guilielmus, Franz Wihelm von Wartenberg, Episcopal Prince of Osnabruck, Verden, Minden and Regensburg, 1st Duke of Bavaria and vicar apostolic of Bremen, was one of those who ratified the Treaty of Wesfalia in 1648, ending the so-called thirty year´s war.

La inscripción en el ángulo inferior derecho indica "P. Aubry excud.", lo que señala que fue editado o impreso por Peter Aubry (o Peter Aubry II, ca. 1596–1666), un prolífico grabador, editor y comerciante de estampas activo en Estrasburgo durante el siglo XVII. Su taller produjo numerosas series de retratos de diplomáticos, nobles y teólogos vinculados a la Guerra de los Treinta Años y a los tratados de paz posteriores.

The inscription in the lower right corner reads "P. Aubry excud.", indicating that it was edited or printed by Peter Aubry (or Peter Aubry II, ca. 1596–1666), a prolific engraver, publisher, and print dealer active in Strasbourg during the 17th century. His workshop produced numerous series of portraits of diplomats, nobles, and theologians connected with the Thirty Years' War and the subsequent peace treaties.

El retrato sigue la tipología áulica de la época, enmarcado en un óvalo simple, concentrando el detalle técnico en las sutiles texturas de las telas del hábito eclesiástico, los botones de la sotana y el modelado del rostro mediante tramas cruzadas de buril muy limpias, características del taller de Aubry.

The portrait follows the courtly style of the period, framed in a simple oval, concentrating technical detail on the subtle textures of the fabrics of the ecclesiastical habit, the buttons of the cassock, and the modeling of the face through very clean cross-hatching, characteristic of Aubry's workshop.
