Henry de Daillon, Duque de Lude, Marqués de Illiers y de Bouillé, Baron de Briançon, gran maestro y capitán General de artillería de Francia, primer gentil hombre de la cámara del rey y gobernador de los castillos de Saint-Germain en Laye y Versalles, introdujo importantes mejoras en el castillo de Lude transformando la antigua fortaleza medieval en una residencia palaciega, fue un aristócrata muy cercano a Luis XIV y amigo personal de la celebre escritora Madame de Sevigne a quien hospedo en varias ocasiones en su castillo, casado en 1644 con la rica heredera Elèonore - Renée de Bouillé ( 1632- 1681 ) contrajo segundas nupcias el 6 de febrero de 1681 con Louise de Béthune ( 1642 - 1726 ) viuda del Conde de Guiche, al morir sin descendencia legó sus propiedades a su sobrino el mariscal Duque Antoine Gastón de Roquelaure.

LA LEYENDA DE LA DAMA VERDE Su primera esposa Eléonore Renée de Boillé muriṕ sin descendencia y en raras ocasiones aparecía por Versalles, la Duquesa prefería dedicarse a sus pasiones los caballos, los perros y la caza en el bosque de Charnie, retirada en el castillo de Mezangiers , su autoridad, exentricidades y masculinidad fueron objeto de leyendas y fantasías, se dice que su espectro luego de su muerte en 1681 denominado el de la " Dama Verde "ronda las estancias del castillo de Rocher en Mezangers propiedad de la família Boillé desde 1624.

Henry de Daillon, Duke of Lude, Marquis of Illiers and Bouillé, Baron of Briançon, Grand Master and Captain-General of Artillery of France, First Gentleman of the King’s Chamber and Governor of the castles of Saint-Germain-en-Laye and Versailles, introduced significant improvements to the Château de Lude, transforming the former medieval fortress into a palatial residence; He was an aristocrat very close to Louis XIV and a personal friend of the famous writer Madame de Sévigné, whom he hosted on several occasions at his castle. He married the wealthy heiress Éléonore in 1644 - Renée de Bouillé (1632–1681), he remarried on 6 February 1681 to Louise de Béthune (1642–1726), widow of the Count of Guiche. Upon his death without issue, he bequeathed his estates to his nephew, Marshal Guiche Antoine Gaston de Roquelaure.

The Legend of the Green Lady

Eleore Renée de Boillé, died childless; she rarely appeared at Versailles, as the Duchess preferred to devote herself to her passions: horses, dogs and hunting in the Forest of Charnie, living in seclusion at the Château de Mezangiers. Her authority, eccentricities and masculinity became the stuff of legends and fantasies; it is said that after her death in 1681, her ghost—known as the ‘Green Lady’—haunts the rooms of the Château de Rocher in Mezangiers, which has been owned by the Boillé family since 1624

Retrato militar y cortesano:

Henri de Daillon aparece representado con la indumentaria propia de un alto mando militar bajo el reinado de Luis XIV: coraza metálica pulida, corbata de encaje (rabat) y una prominente peluca mouche o de rizos voluminosos.

Insignias de distinción:
Luce la banda cruzada sobre el pecho correspondiente a la Orden del Espíritu Santo (Ordre du Saint-Esprit), la más alta distinción de la monarquía francesa, mencionada en la cartela.

Formato clásico:

El busto se enmarca en un óvalo monolítico de moldura lisa, recurso habitual en la retratística barroca de la escuela francesa (como en los grabados de Robert Nanteuil o Antoine Masson) para conferir solemnidad y permanencia.

Heráldica:
En la base del óvalo se ubica el escudo de armas de la familia Daillon, timbrado con corona ducal y rodeado por la gargantilla de la Orden del Espíritu Santo. Tras el escudo se despliega un trofeo con banderas y estandartes militares cruzados.

Henri de Daillon is depicted in the attire of a high-ranking military officer during the reign of Louis XIV: polished metal breastplate, lace cravat (rabat), and a prominent mouche wig with voluminous curls.

Insignia of Distinction:

He wears the sash across his chest corresponding to the Order of the Holy Spirit (Ordre du Saint-Esprit), the highest distinction of the French monarchy, mentioned in the cartouche.

Classical Format:

The bust is framed within a monolithic oval with a smooth molding, a common feature in Baroque portraiture of the French school (as seen in the engravings of Robert Nanteuil or Antoine Masson) to convey solemnity and permanence.

Heraldry:
At the base of the oval is the coat of arms of the Daillon family, surmounted by a ducal crown and surrounded by the collar of the Order of the Holy Spirit. Behind the shield unfolds a trophy with crossed military flags and banners.
