Henrico de Bourbon Principe de Condé fue uno de los líderes protestantes durante las guerras de religión de Francia.

Enrique II de Borbón, Príncipe de Condé. Se le representa de tres cuartos dentro de un marco ovalado, luciendo la característica barba puntiaguda y bigote de principios y mediados del siglo XVII. Vestimenta:

Viste una fina armadura de placas, sobre la cual descansa un magnífico y ancho cuello de encaje reticulado. Cruzando su pecho luce la faja de la prestigiosa Orden del Espíritu Santo (Ordre du Saint-Esprit).

Attire:

He is clad in fine plate armor, over which rests a magnificent, wide reticella lace collar (falling band). Across his chest is the sash of the prestigious French Order of the Holy Spirit (Ordre du Saint-Esprit)

Alphonse de Lamartine fue un escritor, poeta, historiador  y político de la época del segundo Imperio Francés.

Alphonse de Lamartine was a writter, poet, historian and politician of the time of The Second French Empire.

Sujeto:

Alphonse de Lamartine (1790-1869), retratado en su juventud (entre los 40 y 50 años aproximadamente), en la cúspide de su fama literaria durante la Monarquía de Julio (décadas de 1830-1840). Posición y orientación:

Retrato de medio cuerpo, girado tres cuartos hacia la izquierda, con la cabeza ligeramente inclinada y la mirada perdida en la distancia. Esta mirada perdida es un recurso iconográfico clásico del Romanticismo que enfatiza la contemplación interior, la inspiración poética y la profundidad intelectual. Expresión:

Serena, elevada e introspectiva. La frente alta, las cejas prominentes y la sutil sonrisa transmiten nobleza de pensamiento y una heroización clasicista, típica de los retratos de figuras literarias del siglo XIX.

Alphonse de Lamartine (1790–1869), depicted in early-to-mid adulthood (approximately 40 to 50 years old), corresponding to the height of his literary fame during the July Monarchy (1830s–1840s).

Bust-length portrait in a three-quarter turn to the left, with his head slightly inclined and gaze directed past the viewer into the distance. This dynamic regard perdu (lost gaze) is a classic Romantic iconographic trope emphasizing inner contemplation, poetic inspiration, and intellectual depth.

Lamberto II de Spoleto fue Rey de Italia, Emperador Carolingio de Occidente y Duque de Spoleto y Camerino, participo en el denominado Sínodo Calavérico donde ya fallecido el Papa Formoso I se le sometió a juicio con la exhumación de su cadáver por el Papa Esteban VI, encontrándolo culpable se anularon todos sus actos y ordenaciones papales, posteriormente el sucesor del anterior, el Papa Romano anuló el juicio y sus restos fueron depositados de nuevo en la Antigua Basílica de San Pedro.

Lambert II of Spoleto was King of Italy, Carolingian Emperor of the west and Duke of Spoleto and Camerino, participated in the so-called calaberian synod where already deceased Pope Formosus I was put on trial with the exhumation of his body by Pope Stephen VI, finding him guilty all his acts and papal ordinations were annulled , latet the sucessor pf the former, the Roman Pope annulled the trial and his remains were deposited again in The Old Basilica of St Peter.

ICONOGRAFÍA / ICONOGRAPHY:

El fondo dentro del óvalo presenta un denso tramado horizontal concéntrico que crea profundidad.

El marco y el pedestal están tallados con líneas paralelas geométricas y nítidas (tailles) que imitan la piedra arquitectónica tallada, un rasgo distintivo de las series de retratos franceses de este período.

El sujeto está estilizado al estilo clásico romano (de perfil), adornado con una corona de laurel y un manto drapeado (paludamentum) sujeto al hombro, lo que subraya la predilección del siglo XVIII por romanizar las figuras medievales.

He background inside the oval features tight, concentric horizontal hatching to create depth.

The frame and pedestal are cut with clean, geometric parallel lines (tailles) to mimic carved architectural stone, a hallmark of French portrait series from this period.

The subject is stylized in the classical Roman manner (en profil), adorned with a laurel wreath and a draped mantle (paludamentum) fastened at the shoulder, emphasizing the 18th-century penchant for Romanizing medieval figures.

FRANCOIS MAUGUIN ( 1785 - 1854 )

Francois Mauguin fue un político y abogado francés que alcanzo gran reputación en la defensa a opositores politicos de la restauración borbonica, fue Elegido diputado en 1827 como miembro de la oposición liberal, desempeñó un papel activo durante la Revolución de Julio de 1830, defendiendo las libertades parlamentarias y la soberanía nacional. Bajo el reinado de Luis Felipe, Mauguin siguió siendo una voz destacada de la izquierda dinástica, manteniendo una postura independiente y a menudo radical contra las políticas del gobierno central. Continuó sirviendo en las asambleas legislativas durante la Segunda República hasta su muerte en 1854.

François Mauguin was a French politician and lawyer who gained considerable renown for his defense of political opponents of the Bourbon Restoration. Elected to parliament in 1827 as a member of the liberal opposition, he played an active role during the July Revolution of 1830, defending parliamentary liberties and national sovereignty. Under the reign of Louis Philippe, Mauguin remained a prominent voice of the dynastic left, maintaining an independent and often radical stance against the policies of the central government. He continued to serve in the legislative assemblies during the Second Republic until his death in 1854.
