La escena representada corresponde al Saqueo del templo de Delfos por los tectósages un pueblo galo comandado por Breno en el siglo III a. C.
The scene depicted corresponds to the Sacking of the Temple of Delphi by the Tectosages (a Gallic people commanded by Brennus in the 3rd century BC).

Una procesión de guerreros con cascos de estilo clásico, túnicas y escudos redondos, transportando el fastuoso botín saqueado del templo, compuesto por grandes vasijas, ánforas, incensarios y un enorme jarrón central llevado en andas.
Segundo plano y fondo:
El reflejo de la catástrofe bélica, con una densa humareda y llamas que devoran la ciudad, donde se distinguen estructuras monumentales de clara inspiración romana/clásica, incluyendo columnas conmemorativas, un gran arco de triunfo y un templo circular que recuerda al Panteón.
