ICONOGRAFÍA / ICONOGRAPHY:

Regnard aparece representado de medio cuerpo, luciendo una clásica peluca de extensiones altas y envuelto en un drapeado amplio y voluminoso, característico de las composiciones barrocas de Rigaud. El marco rectangular de la ventana está flanqueado por intrincadas enredaderas colgantes y guirnaldas de hiedra, que simbolizan la longevidad y la inmortalidad poética.

Regnard is depicted half-length wearing a classic high allonge wig and wrapped in a deep, voluminous drapery characteristic of Rigaud’s baroque compositions. The rectangular window frame is flanked by intricately detailed hanging vines and ivy garlands, symbolizing longevity and poetic immortality.

 Maurice de Saxe . Mariscal de Campo  de Francia, Conde de Sajonia, Caballero del Águila Blanca y Gobernador de Chambord, hijo ilegitimo del Rey Federico l de Sajonia, considerado uno de los mejores militares Franceses durante el reinado de Luis XV, escribió distintos tratados, manuales y ensayos de carácter militar.

Chrestien de Odiemburgo, Rey de Dinamarca y Noruega de 1670 a 1699, falleció a consecuencia de un accidente de caza, fue enterrado en la Catedral de Roskilde.

Chrestien of Odiemburg, King of Denmark and Norway from 1670 to 1699, died as a result of a hunting accident, was buried in Roskilde Cathedral.

ICONOGRAFÍA / ICONOGRAPHY:

Retrato de medio cuerpo enmarcado en un medallón o marco ovalado característico de las producciones parisinas del Barroco.

• Decorado en la parte superior con un lazo exento o cinta de tela (ruban) anudada.

• En la zona inferior, interrumpiendo el texto biográfico dispuesto a dos columnas, se ubica el escudo de armas real del monarca (las tres coronas y los leones del blasón de Dinamarca) timbrado con una corona real abierta.

• Presenta una anotación manuscrita antigua a tinta en el margen inferior izquierdo que corrige o aclara el nombre del padre o del sucesor ("Fréderic").

• A half-length portrait framed in a medallion or oval frame characteristic of Parisian Baroque productions. Decorated at the top with a detached bow or knotted ribbon. At the bottom, interrupting the biographical text arranged in two columns, is the royal coat of arms of the monarch (the three crowns and lions of the Danish blazon) surmounted by an open royal crown. An old handwritten inscription in ink appears in the lower left margin, correcting or clarifying the name of the father or successor ("Frédéric").

Joan Taylor Eques fue un médico y oftalmólogo Ingles, oculista personal del Rey Jorge II, viajo por toda Europa, opero de cataratas con poca fortuna a diferentes personalidades del siglo XVIII entre ellos  J.S. Bach o G.F. Haendel.

Joan Taylor Eques was an English physician and ophthalmologist, personal oculist of King George II, traveled throughout Europe, operated cataracts with little fortune to different personalities of the eighteenth century including J.S. Bach or G.F. Haendel.

ICONOGRAFÍA / ICONOGRAPHY :

El retratado: Taylor aparece de tres cuartos, luciendo una peluca empolvada y un abrigo bordado con una condecoración aristocrática o una medalla en forma de estrella, reflejo de los títulos de caballero que se autoproclamó o que le fueron otorgados durante sus viajes por el continente.

Naturaleza muerta (Vanitas/Motivo académico): En primer plano inferior se aprecia una disposición de grandes volúmenes en folio, manuscritos abiertos y documentos enrollados, que denotan una profunda erudición y tratados médicos publicados.

Heráldica: El escudo de armas central presenta una cimera con un león rampante que sostiene una estrella, rodeado de un manto barroco decorativo.
