Daniel Burgess fue un orador, sacerdote y escritor  protestante, Ministro de la Iglesia, estudio en la Universidad de Oxford, fue tutor de lord bolingbroke .

Daniel Burgess was a protestant orator, priest and writter, Minister of the church, studied at oxford university, was tutor to Lord Bolingntoke.

ICONOGRAFÍA / ICONOGRAPHY:

El personaje aparece con la indumentaria eclesiástica tradicional propia de un ministro inconformista de finales del período Estuardo. Lleva una pesada túnica/manto clerical sobre una sotana abotonada, complementada con prominentes bandas clericales (insignias de predicación) en el cuello.

The subject is depicted in traditional ecclesiastical dress appropriate for a nonconformist minister of the late Stuart period. He wears a heavy clerical gown/mantle over a buttoned cassock, complemented by prominent clerical bands (preaching tabs) at the neck.

Venceslars Hollar fue un prolífico grabador especializado en escenas campestres de origen Bohemio y con taller en la ciudad de Lóndres.

Venceslars Hollar was a prolific engraver specialising in country scenes of Bohemian origin with a studio in the city of London.

ICONOGRAFÍA / ICONOGRAPHY

Retrato del artista en busto de tres cuartos dentro de una orla o marco oval de rico diseño aurículo-barroco (cartela de estilo auricular o kwabstyle), flanqueada por volutas ornamentales y motivos quiméricos/grotescos. En la parte inferior del marco se aprecia un escudo heráldico timbrado con tres flores de lis sobre tres cumbres.

A three-quarter bust portrait of the artist set within an oval border or frame featuring an elaborate Auricular Baroque design (cartouche in the *kwabstyle*), flanked by ornamental scrolls and chimerical or grotesque motifs. At the bottom of the frame, a heraldic shield is visible, surmounted by a crest featuring three fleurs-de-lis above three mountain peaks.

Michel Odieuvre (o su taller, París, siglo XVIII). La adición de la letra tipográfica en francés ("Dessinateur et Graveur, Né à Prague...") corresponde a la reutilización y retocado de la plancha para la célebre publicación de retratos de artistas de Odieuvre en el Quai de l'École de París.

Michel Odieuvre (or his workshop, Paris, 18th century). The addition of the French printed text ("Dessinateur et Graveur, Né à Prague...") reflects the reuse and reworking of the plate for Odieuvre's celebrated publication of artist portraits, issued from the Quai de l'École in Paris.

Wenceslaus Hollar (también escrito Venceslas Hollar o Wenzel Hollar, Praga, 1607 – Londres, 1677). Se trata de un autorretrato en el que él mismo dibujó y grabó la matriz al aguafuerte en 1647 ("Se ipsum sculpsit").
