FILIPPO MARIA VISCONTI  ( 1392 - 1447 )

Filippo Maria Visconti fue el último gobernante del Ducado de Milan de la família Visconti y Conde de Pavia entre 1402 y 1412, segundo hijo de Juan Galeás Visconti primer Duque de Milan y su segunda esposa Caterina Visconti, falleció en 1447 en Milan sin descendencia por lo que se proclamó la República Ambrosiana. 

Filippo Maria Visconti was the last ruler of the Duchy of Milan from the Visconti family and Count of Pavia between 1402 and 1412. He was the second son of Giovanni Galeazzo Visconti, first Duke of Milan, and his second wife Caterina Visconti. He died in Milan in 1447 without issue, leading to the proclamation of the Ambrosian Republic.

Disposición y Encuadre:
Busto en estricto perfil hacia la derecha, inscrito en una orla ovalada con la cruz latina en el remate superior. Sigue la tradición de la retratística medallística del Renacimiento italiano (inspirada en la numismática imperial romana).

Tocado:
Birreta o bonete ducal plisado (berretto), característico de la indumentaria soberana de los gobernantes de Milán en el siglo XV.

Ropaje:
Brocado rico decorado con motivos fitomorfos (margaritas/palmetas) y el águila imperial sobre el hombro/pecho, símbolo concedido a la casa Visconti por el emperador Wenceslao de Luxemburgo tras otorgar el título ducal a Gian Galeazzo Visconti en 1395.

Composition and Framing:
Bust in strict profile facing right, inscribed within an oval border with a Latin cross at the top. It follows the tradition of Italian Renaissance medal portraiture (inspired by Roman imperial numismatics). Headwear:
Pleated ducal biretta or bonnet (berretto), characteristic of the sovereign attire of the rulers of Milan in the 15th century. Clothing:
Rich brocade decorated with plant motifs (daisies/palmettes) and the imperial eagle on the shoulder/chest, a symbol granted to the House of Visconti by Emperor Wenceslas of Luxembourg after bestowing the ducal title upon Gian Galeazzo Visconti in 1395.

Hugues des Hazards fue un clérigo obispo de Toul desde 1506 hasta su muerte en 1517 .
Hugues des Hazards was a clergyman and bishop of Toul from 1506 until his death in 1517.

ICONOGRAFÍA / ICONOGRAPHY
Indumentaria eclesiástica:
El prelado viste moceta con cuello rígido (valona), sotana botonada centralmente y solideo (zucchetto) en la cabeza. El rostro destaca por un bigote caído y perilla pronunciada, rasgos fisonómicos tomados del retrato pictórico barroco o renacentista original.

Cruz pectoral:
Colgante en forma de cruz de cabos iguales o cruz latina, suspendida sobre la moceta mediante un cordón o cadena eclesiástica.

Libro de devoción:
Sostenido con la mano izquierda, muestra un lomo ricamente decorado con encuadernación gofrada o dorado de la época, símbolo de su erudición, piedad y condición de doctor en decretos/canonista.

Escudo de armas:
En la parte inferior, blasón con una cruz latina centrada sobre campo plano, acompañado en la parte posterior por la empuñadura de un báculo episcopal en palo.

Filacteria:
Cinta superior en voladizo con la divisa o lema personal "matrein durant".

Ecclesiastical Attire:
The prelate wears a cassock with a stiff collar (valona), a centrally buttoned cassock, and a skullcap (zucchetto). His face is distinguished by a drooping mustache and a pronounced goatee, physiognomic features taken from original Baroque or Renaissance painted portraits.
Pectoral Cross:
A pendant in the form of a cross with equal ends or a Latin cross, suspended from the cassock by an ecclesiastical cord or chain. Book of Devotions:
Held in the left hand, it displays a richly decorated spine with embossed or gilt binding typical of the period, a symbol of his erudition, piety, and status as a Doctor of Canon Law.
Coat of Arms:
At the bottom, a blazon with a Latin cross centered on a flat field, accompanied at the back by the handle of an episcopal crosier. Phylactery:
Overhanging upper band with the personal motto or motto "matrein durant".
