Tipología ecuestre:
La figura se presenta montada a la jineta en un caballo rampante o en maniobra de levade, imitando la tradición de los retratos ecuestres barrocos del siglo XVII (como los de Stefano della Bella o Claude Deruet, en los cuales se basa este modelo litográfico del XIX).
Indumentaria y atributos militar-caballerescos:
Viste atuendo militar masculino o adaptado de estilo barroco francés, con casaca abotonada, amplia baldragas/guantes de cuero y sombrero de ala ancha ornamentado con plumas (sombrero a la valona).
En la mano izquierda sostiene la brida del caballo y una fusta de maniobra; a un costado cuelga una espada/ropera de guarnición de lazo con prolongados cordones y borlas ceremoniales.
Fondo:
Terreno rocoso en primer término con líneas suaves en el horizonte que sugieren un escenario campestre o de batalla esbozado.
Heráldica:
En el centro del margen inferior, bajo la escena, se dispone un escudo de armas timbrado con un yelmo de perfil y una cimera con forma de águila o fénix, correspondiente al blasón familiar de Ernecourt / Saint-Balmont (tres flores de lis o besantes sobre bandas).

Rocky terrain in the foreground with soft lines on the horizon suggesting a rural or sketched battle scene.

In the center of the lower margin, under the scene, there is a coat of arms surmounted by a helmet in profile and a crest in the shape of an eagle or phoenix, corresponding to the family coat of arms of Ernecourt / Saint-Balmont (three fleurs-de-lis or bezants on bands).
