Armor & Collar: The sitter is depicted wearing polished plate armor with rivets, symbolizing his high military rank as Lieutenant General of Normandy. Above the armor, he wears a wide collar of Italian point lace (gros point de Venise), typical of mid-17th-century aristocratic sartorial fashion during the Regency of Anne of Austria.

Order of the Holy Spirit (Ordre du Saint-Esprit): The sash running diagonally across his chest holds the Maltese cross of the Ordre du Saint-Esprit, recognizable by the dove (Saint-Esprit) at its center and fleur-de-lis devices between the arms. As the premier chivalric order of the Kingdom of France, its presence signifies royal proximity and high status.

Portrait Oval (Medallion): Framing the portrait within an oval stone-like border resting on a pedestal or ledger was a standard Baroque convention for print portraits. It conveys permanence, historical authority, and classical nobility.

Arms: Features the coat of arms of the house of Orléans-Longueville (the royal arms of Orléans featuring the fleur-de-lis with a baton sinister/bar for cadency, quartered with the territory of Longueville).

Coronet: The shield is topped with a ducal coronet (couronne ducale), establishing his peerage status.
