• Fue una de las primeras superioras generales de la Congregación de Borromeas (Hermanas de la Caridad de San Carlos de Nancy), gobernando la institución en dos periodos (1714–1720 y 1725–1735). Destacó históricamente por su entrega al cuidado de los enfermos y los más desfavorecidos, falleciendo con una arraigada fama de santidad (lo que justifica el tratamiento de "Vénérable" en la estampa).

Sister Barbe Barthélémy (1662–1755).

She was one of the first general superiors of the Congregation of the Borromeans (Sisters of Charity of St. Charles of Nancy), leading the order during two terms (1714–1720 and 1725–1735). She is historically noted for her dedication to caring for the sick and the most disadvantaged, and she died with a well-established reputation for holiness (which justifies the title “Venerable” on the print).

Estanislao I Leszczynski fue rey de Polonia y posteriormente duque de Lorena y de Bar (padre de la reina de Francia, María Leszczynska, consorte de Luis XV), se le conoció cómo el filosofo benefactor.

Estanislao I Leszczynski was King of Poland and later Duke of Lorraine and Bar (father of the Queen of France, Maria Leszczyńska, consort of Louis XV).

ICONOGRAFÍA / ICONOGRAPHY :

El rey aparece representado de tres cuartos, mirando hacia la derecha y hacia el espectador. Luce una peluca rizada (perruque à marteau), una armadura clásica de placas y un manto de terciopelo forrado de armiño, sujeto al hombro. Esto representa el vocabulario típico del retrato de estado del barroco tardío, que combina la autoridad militar con la benevolencia real. La referencia a «sus obras» (ses ouvrages) en la última línea celebra su producción filosófica y literaria, en particular sus Œuvres du Philosophe Bienfaisant (Obras del filósofo benéfico), publicadas en torno a esta época.

 The King is depicted in a three-quarter view facing right, looking toward the viewer. He wears a curled wig (perruque a marteau), classicizing plate armor, and a velvet, ermine-lined mantle fastened at the shoulder. This represents the typical late-baroque state portrait vocabulary, blending military authority with royal benevolence. The reference to "his works" (ses ouvrages) in the final line celebrates his philosophical and literary output, notably his Œuvres du Philosophe Bienfaisant (Works of the Beneficent Philosopher), published around this era.
