ROBERT DUDLEY ( 1532/34 - 1588 )

Robert Dudley Conde de Leicester, Barón de Denbigh, Caballero de la orden de la Jarretera, Miembro del Parlamento por Norfolck y Lord Teniente de Éssex ( 1585 a 1588 ) fue un intrigante personaje en la corte de Isabel I de Inglaterra, favorito de la reina, su primera esposa Amy Robsart falleció al rodar por las escaleras en 1560 quedando libre para casarse con la reina, a pesar de que el jurado determinó que fue un accidente resulto tal la magnitud del escándalo y los rumores que había arreglado la muerte de su esposa que redujeron mucho sus posibilidades al respecto, en 1578 se casó en segundas nupcias con Lettice Knollis que fue apartada de la corte casi de inmediato, nombrado en 1585 comandante a una expedición a los Paises Bajos Españoles, este fue vencido en Grave, Venlo y Esclusa por los ejércitos del Gobernador de los Paises Bajos Alejandro Farnesio.

Reconciliado con la reina por la desastrosa campaña militar le nombró lugarteniente general para luchar contra la desdichada Armada Invencible, murió poco después el 4 de septiembre de 1588.

Robert Dudley, Earl of Leicester, Baron of Denbigh, Knight of the Order of the Garter, Member of Parliament for Norfolk and Lord Lieutenant of Essex (1585 to 1588), he was a scheming figure at the court of Elizabeth I of England and a favourite of the Queen. His first wife, Amy Robsart, died after falling down the stairs in 1560, leaving him free to marry the Queen; although the jury ruled it was an accident, the scale of the scandal and the rumours that he had arranged his wife’s death were such that they greatly reduced his chances in that regard, In 1578, he married Lettice Knollis in his second marriage; she was removed from court almost immediately. In 1585, he was appointed commander of an expedition to the Spanish Netherlands, but was defeated at Grave, Venlo and Esclusa by the armies of the Governor of the Netherlands, Alessandro Farnese.

Reconciled with the Queen following the disastrous military campaign, he was appointed Lieutenant General to fight against the ill-fated Spanish Armada; he died shortly afterwards on 4 September 1588.

Henry de Orleans, Duque de Longueville, Esteoteville y Colummiers, Principe soberano de Neichâtel, Valangin y Chatellaillin y Conde de Dunois fue un noble diplomatico y miilitar francés caballero del Santo espiritu y de San Miguel, y una de las figuras principales en las diferentes guerra civiles francesas, fue gobernador de Picardía y de Normandía, encabezo la delegación francesa en las conversaciones que llevaron al tratado de Westfalia y que puso fin a la guerra de los treinta años ( 1648 ), en 1650 fue arrestado durante un breve tiempo junto con el Príncipe Conti por orden del cardenal Mazarino por conspirar contra la regéncia de Ana de Austria lo que supuso la guerra civil francesa conocida como la fronda nobiliaria ( 1650 - 1653 ), Henry de Orleans falleciṕ en Rouen en 1663, fue enterrado en la santa capilla de Chàteaudun y su corazón reposa en el convento de los Celestinos de Paris.

Henry of Orleans, Duke of Longueville, Esteoteville and Colummiers, Sovereign Prince of Neuchâtel, Valangin and Chatellaillin, and Count of Dunois, was a French nobleman, diplomat and military commander, a Knight of the Holy Spirit and of St Michael, and one of the leading figures in the various French civil wars. He served as governor of Picardy and Normandy, and led the French delegation in the talks that led to the Treaty of Westphalia, which brought an end to the Thirty Years’ War (1648). In 1650, he was briefly arrested alongside the Prince of Conti on the orders of Cardinal Mazarin for conspiring against the regency of Anne of Austria, an event that sparked the French civil war known as the Fronde (1650–1653). Henry of Orleans died in Rouen in 1663; he was buried in the Sainte-Chapelle in Châteaudun, and his heart rests in the Convent of the Celestines in Paris.
