Francisco de Mendoza y Mendoza fue un diplomático, militar y eclesiástico Español, Almirante de Aragón y Marqués de Guadalest, mayordomo de Felipe II y del Archiduque Alberto de Austria, general de los tercios de Flandes , embajador en Polonia, Alemania y Francia, en 1617 se ordenó sacerdote titulándose Prebístero Almirante, en 1622 recién coronado Rey Felipe IV le fue otorgado el obispado de Siguenza consagrado por el inquisidor general Andrés Pacheco antes de viajar a su diócesis falleció en Madrid en 1623.

Francisco de Mendoza y Mendoza was a Spanish nobleman, Admiral of Aragon and Marquis of Guadalest, steward to Philip II and Archduke Albert of Austria, general of the Tercios of Flanders, and ambassador to Poland, Germany and France. In 1617 he was ordained a priest, taking the title of ‘prebendary admiral’ from that time onwards; In 1622, the newly crowned King Philip IV nominated him for the bishopric of Sigüenza; however, before he could travel to his diocese, he died in Madrid in 1623.

ERYCIUS PUTEANUS  ( 1574 - 1646 )

Erycius Puteanus fue un destacado filólogo y humanista flamenco del Siglo XVII, es conocido principalmente por suceder en 1606 al renombrado Justo Lipsio en la cátedra de Elocuencia de la Universidad de Lovaina, fue un autor principalmente versátil que escribió sobre historia, astronomía, arqueología y música. En 1608 recibió de los archiduques Alberto de Austria e Isabel Clara Eugenia  la designación de historiógrafo, en 1614 se le concedió el titulo honorifico de gobernador del castillo de Lovaina lo que permitió instalarse con su numerosa familia en el castillo de Mont - César perteneciente a los Duques de Brabante al que titulo ciudadela de Palas.

Erycius Puteanus was a prominent 17th-century Flemish humanist and philologist; he is best known for succeeding the renowned Justus Lipsius as Professor of Rhetoric at the University of Leuven in 1606. He was a highly versatile author who wrote on history, astronomy, archaeology and music. In 1608, he was granted the title of historiographer by Archduke Albert of Austria and Archduchess Isabella Clara Eugenia; in 1614, he was awarded the honorary title of governor of Leuven Castle, which enabled him to settle with his large family in Mont-César Castle, belonging to the Dukes of Brabant, which he named the Citadel of Pallas.
