Georgius goedhals o Joris Goethals fue un teólogo y predicador protestante natural de Gante, nació alrededor del año de 1584? , y paso gran parte de su vida en los Paises bajos, predico en varias ciudades Holandesas como Blaricum y Laren, ejerció su ministerio como clérigo y teólogo en la ciudad de Hoorn donde fallecería en 1670.
Georgius Goethals, also known as Joris Goethals, was a Protestant theologian and preacher from Ghent. He was born around 1584 and spent much of his life in the Netherlands, preaching in various Dutch cities such as Blaricum and Laren. He served as a clergyman and theologian in the city of Hoorn, where he died in 1670.

Georgiu Goedhals aparece representado en un interior de carácter académico, sentado en un sillón frente a una cortina . Detrás de él, a la derecha, hay una estantería repleta de gruesos tomos encuadernados en cuero.
Lleva la vestimenta académica y clerical tradicional de la época: un gorro oscuro (kalot), un llamativo cuello plisado (pijpkraag) y un pesado tabardo o toga forrado de piel.
Su mano derecha descansa cerca de un enorme libro abierto sobre un escritorio, lo que subraya su dedicación de toda una vida a las Escrituras y al estudio académico, mientras que su expresión serena y curtida captura la «dignidad venerable» celebrada en los poemas que acompañan a la obra.

Georgiu Goedhals is depicted in an academic-style interior, seated in an armchair in front of a curtain. Behind him, to the right, is a bookshelf crammed with thick leather-bound volumes.
He wears the traditional academic and clerical attire of the period: a dark cap (kalot), a striking ruffled collar (pijpkraag) and a heavy, fur-lined tabard or gown.
His right hand rests near a huge book lying open on a desk, underscoring his lifelong dedication to the Scriptures and academic study, whilst his serene, weathered expression captures the ‘venerable dignity’ celebrated in the poems accompanying the work.
