LA CURACIÓN DE TOBIT

La curación de Tobit (o Tobías) es un episodio bíblico del Libro de Tobías (capítulo 11) y un tema iconográfico clásico ampliamente representado en el grabado y la pintura del Renacimiento y Barroco.

The healing of Tobit (or Tobias) is a biblical episode from the Book of Tobias (chapter 11) and a classic iconographic theme widely represented in Renaissance and Baroque engraving and painting.

Acción principal:

El joven Tobías se encuentra frente a su padre ciego, Tobit, sentado, aplicándole un ungüento en los ojos. Este ungüento está hecho con la bilis del pez milagroso.

Personajes secundarios:

Detrás de Tobit se encuentra su esposa, Ana, observando la curación. En el extremo izquierdo, el arcángel Rafael (tradicionalmente disfrazado de Azarías durante el viaje) vela por la escena, reconocible por sus alas.

Escenario arquitectónico:

La escena se desarrolla en un interior de estilo renacentista con un suelo de baldosas clásicas, columnas y una logia arqueada que da a un patio.

The Central Action: 

The young Tobias stands before his blind, seated father, Tobit, applying an ointment to his eyes. This ointment is made from the gall of the miraculous fish.

Supporting Figures: 

Behind Tobit stands his wife, Anna, observing the healing. On the far left, the Archangel Raphael (traditionally disguised as Azarias during the journey) watches over the scene, identifiable by his wings.

Architectural Setting:

 The scene is framed inside a Renaissance-style interior featuring a classical tiled floor, columns, and an arched loggia looking out into a courtyard.1. The Healing of Tobit (Left Foreground)

Pompeius Magnus was a general and statesman of the late las roman republique.

ICONOGRAFÍA / ICONOGRAPHY

Busto clásico de mármol sobre pedestal, representado de frente con la cabeza ligeramente girada. La figura viste un paludamentum romano drapeado o manto pesado sujeto al hombro con un broche redondo (fíbula). Se le representa con cabello corto y texturizado, ceño fruncido y una ligera sombra de patilla o barba, típica de los retratos de busto de la República Romana en los grabados de los siglos XVII y XVIII.

Classical marble bust set on a pedestal, depicted frontally with the head slightly turned. The figure wears a draped Roman paludamentum or heavy cloak fastened at the shoulder with a round brooch (fibula). He is depicted with short, textured hair, furrowed brow, and a slight sideburn/beard shadow typical of Roman republican bust portraiture conventions in 17th–18th century prints.

Este grabado calcográfico muestra una escena alegórica o mitológica de estilo neoclásico, probablemente de finales del siglo XVIII, enmarcada en un tondo o medallón circular.

En la composición se observa a una mujer arrodillada en un paisaje boscoso frente a una pequeña escultura de un amorcillo o Cupido alado situada sobre un pedestal. La figura femenina sostiene lo que parece ser una paloma (símbolo tradicional de Venus y el amor) o una ofrenda, mientras que el Cupido alza una corona, posiblemente de laurel o flores. A la izquierda se aprecian algunas letras grabadas de forma parcial (como "marais," e "ictor."), que suelen corresponder a los nombres del dibujante, el grabador o la dirección del taller de impresión de la época.

This intaglio engraving depicts an allegorical or mythological scene in the Neoclassical style, probably dating from the late 18th century, framed within a tondo or circular medallion.

The composition depicts a woman kneeling in a wooded landscape before a small sculpture of a winged cherub or Cupid standing on a pedestal. The female figure holds what appears to be a dove (a traditional symbol of Venus and love) or an offering, whilst the Cupid raises a crown, possibly of laurel or flowers. On the left, some partially engraved letters can be seen (such as ‘marais’ and ‘ictor’), which usually correspond to the names of the artist, the engraver or the address of the printing workshop of the time.
