LA VIRGEN Y LA CUNA

La Virgen y la cuna es un grabado clásico del Renacimiento Italiano, la Virgen María esta sentada y sostiene al niño Jesús, Santa Ana y Santa Isabel una pila redonda y un angel que sostiene una ánfora, haciendo referencia específica a una composición de Rafael o Giulo Romano y grabado por el circulo de Marcantonio o Agostino Veneziano, se observa en el pliegue de la cuna  una V invertida lo que podría indicar el monograma de Agostino Veneziano o de su circulo.

 'The Virgin and the Cradle' is a classic engraving from the Italian Renaissance; the Virgin Mary is seated, holding the infant Jesus, with Saint Anne and Saint Elizabeth, a round font and an angel holding an amphora, making specific reference to a composition by Raphael or Giulio Romano and engraved by the circle of Marcantonio or Agostino Veneziano; An inverted V can be seen in the fold of the cradle, which could indicate the monogram of Agostino Veneziano or his circle.

OBSERVACIONES / OBSERVATIONS :

En el grabado de la Virgen y la Cuna conservados en distintas bibliotecas y museos se atribuye la estampa a Marcontonio Raimundi sobre un diseño de Rafael Sanzio encontrando la diferencia con el presente grabado en el pliegue de la cuna en donde la V no esta invertida, puede que el grabado sea una copia apócrifa, una reedición posterior o sencillamente una señal del grabador.

In the engravings of the Virgin and the Cradle held in various libraries and museums, the print is attributed to Marcontonio Raimundi, based on a design by Raphael Sanzio; the difference with this engraving lies in the fold of the cradle, where the V is not inverted. It is possible that the engraving is an apocryphal copy, a later reprint, or simply a mark left by the engraver.
