El Paradigmata graphices variorum artificum fue un influyente libro de estampas y cartillas de dibujo publicado en 1671 por el artista y grabador neerlandés Jan de Bisschop ( 1628-1671) . La obra contiene grabados al aguafuerte basados en dibujos de grandes maestros del Renacimiento y en esculturas clásicas de la antigüedad.
Paradigmata graphices variorum artificum is an influential book of prints and drawing manual published in 1671 by the Dutch artist and engraver Jan de Bisschop (1628–1671). The work contains etchings based on drawings by great Renaissance masters and on classical sculptures from antiquity.

Figura izquierda:
Ataviado con túnicas clásicas, sostiene un pergamino o un pequeño libro con ambas manos. Un tenue halo tras su cabeza.
Figura central:
Ataviado con túnica y manto, sostiene un documento doblado o una pequeña tablilla contra su cintura. Un sutil halo.
Figura derecha:
De perfil, sostiene un gran códice (libro) vertical apoyado sobre su hombro. El halo es claramente visible.
Fila inferior (Dos figuras sentadas):
Figura izquierda:
Semidesnudo, torso musculoso de estilo manierista en pose dinámica, apoyando el pie sobre un bloque. Sostiene una gran sierra verticalmente a su costado, lo que lo identifica como San Simón el Zelote (o Santiago el Menor).
Figura derecha:
Sentado, vestido con túnica, sostiene una gran espada vertical (o un cuchillo ancho) por la empuñadura, lo que lo identifica como San Pablo (o San Bartolomé/San Judas Tadeo).

Semi-nude, muscular Mannerist torso in dynamic pose resting his foot on a block. He holds a large saw vertically by his side, identifying him as Saint Simon the Zealot (or St. James the Less).
Right Figure:
Seated draped figure holding a large upright sword (or broad knife) by its handle, identifying him as Saint Paul (or St. Bartholomew / St. Jude).

Jan de Bisschop (Ámsterdam, 1628-La Haya, 1671) fue un abogado neerlandés, coleccionista de dibujos y estampas, dibujante y grabador. Firmó sus obras con un anagrama formado por las letras J E entrelazadas, iniciales de su nombre latinizado Janus o Johannes Episcopius.

Jan de Bisschop (Amsterdam, 1628–The Hague, 1671) was a Dutch lawyer, collector of drawings and prints, draughtsman, and engraver. He signed his works with an anagram formed by the intertwined letters J E, the initials of his Latinized name, Janus or Johannes Episcopius.

Técnica:
Aguafuerte sobre papel verjurado.
Adaptación del dibujo:
Jan de Bisschop buscó reproducir fielmente la calidad gráfica de los dibujos originales a pluma y tinta de Baccio Bandinelli. Empleó una técnica delicada y penetrante para transformar los rápidos trazos de tinta en líneas fluidas grabadas.
Sombreado y volumen:
El sombreado paralelo que sigue el contorno y el sombreado cruzado selectivo imitan el característico modelado anatómico de Bandinelli, definiendo los contornos musculares, los profundos pliegues de la ropa y las sombras proyectadas.

Propósito:
La Paradigmata Graphices pretendía ser algo más que una galería de grabados; funcionaba como un "manual de enseñanza". Al grabar estos dibujos, de Bisschop proporcionó una referencia estandarizada y de alta calidad para estudiantes de toda Europa, preservando el estilo de dibujantes manieristas italianos como Bandinelli.
