Esta cabecera de página grabada al cobre (calcografía) del siglo XVIII. Se trata de una pieza de gran interés iconográfico y técnico que representa al héroe Renaud (Rinaldo), uno de los personajes principales de la célebre epopeya La Jerusalén libertada (Gerusalemme liberata) de Torquato Tasso (El Tasso).
El grabado corresponde específicamente a la ilustración del Canto XVIII (Chant XVIII), donde Renaud adquiere un protagonismo fundamental al adentrarse en el bosque encantado de la Selva de Saron para romper los hechizos que impiden a los cruzados obtener madera para sus máquinas de asedio.
This 18th-century copperplate engraving (chalcography) is a work of great iconographic and technical interest, depicting the hero Renaud (Rinaldo), one of the main characters in Torquato Tasso’s (El Tasso) famous epic *Jerusalem Delivered* (*Gerusalemme liberata*).
The engraving specifically corresponds to the illustration of Canto XVIII (Chant XVIII), in which Renaud takes centre stage as he enters the enchanted forest of the Selva di Saron to break the spells preventing the Crusaders from obtaining wood for their siege engines.
