Pietro Locatelli was a prominent Italian Baroque painter and draftsman, active in Rome during the second half of the 17th century (born circa 1630–1634; died in the early 18th century). He was a pupil of major masters of the Roman Baroque, such as Ciro Ferri and Pietro da Cortona. He was a member of the prestigious Accademia di San Luca in Rome, where he produced a significant portion of his paintings and designs for prints. Although he focused primarily on oil painting—with notable works in Roman churches and palaces, such as Sant'Agostino and the Palazzo Colonna—his work as a draftsman (*invenit et delineavit*) served as the basis for numerous copperplate engravings from that period.
