CARLOS II DE ESPAÑA  ( 1665 - 1700 )

 Carlos de Austria llamado " el hechizado " fue Rey de España, de Nápoles, Sicilia y Cerdeña, Duque de Milán, Soberano de los Países Bajos, Duque de Borgoña entre otros títulos y distinciones, su madre Mariana de Austria (1634-1696)  ejerció la regencia del Reino asesorada por una junta de gobierno hasta 1675, Carlos II contrajo matrimonio con María Luisa de Orleans y en 1690 con Mariana de Neoburgo con los que no obtuvo sucesión directa, Carlos II fue el ultimo Rey de la Casa de Habsburgo.   Poco antes de su muerte en noviembre de 1700, Carlos nombró a Felipe como su heredero, pero la adquisición de un Imperio español unido por parte de Francia o de Austria amenazaba el equilibrio europeo de poder. El fracaso a la hora de resolver estos asuntos por medios diplomáticos tuvo como resultado la guerra de sucesión española, entre 1701 y 1714 y dos pretendientes al trono, Felipe V, nieto de Luis XIV de Francia  y a su vez el Archiduque Carlos de Austria o de Habsburgo  lo que llevó a un conflicto internacional respecto al sucesor de la corona. 

Charles of Austria, known as “the Bewitched,” was King of Spain, Naples, Sicily, and Sardinia; Duke of Milan; Sovereign of the Netherlands; and Duke of Burgundy, among other titles and distinctions. His mother, Mariana of Austria (1634–1696) served as regent of the kingdom, advised by a governing council, until 1675. Charles II married Marie Louise of Orléans and, in 1690, Mariana of Neuburg, with neither of whom he had a direct heir. Charles II was the last king of the House of Habsburg. Shortly before his death in November 1700, Charles named Philip as his heir, but the acquisition of a unified Spanish Empire by either France or Austria threatened the European balance of power. The failure to resolve these issues through diplomatic means resulted in the War of the Spanish Succession, which lasted from 1701 to 1714, and pitted two claimants to the throne against each other: Philip V, grandson of Louis XIV of France, and Archduke Charles of Austria (or Habsburg), leading to an international conflict over the succession to the crown.

A Paris chez Odieuvre Md d'estampes rue d'Anjou - Dauphine la derniere porte cochere au 1er. Michel Odieuvre ( 1687 - 1756 ) fue un destacado editor y vendedor de grabados, era famoso por publicar amplias series de retratos históricos.

In Paris, at Odieuvre, print dealer, Rue d'Anjou – Dauphine, the last carriage entrance on the first floor. Michel Odieuvre (1687–1756) was a prominent publisher and dealer in engravings; he was famous for publishing extensive series of historical portraits.
