Johann Friedrich Mayer fue un clérigo Alemán, destacado defensor de la ortodoxia Luterana, teólogo y profesor en la Universidad de Wittenberg fue superintendente general de la Pomerania Sueca, fallecio el 30 de marzo de 1712 en Stettin.
Johann Friedrich Mayer was a German clergyman, a prominent defender of Lutheran orthodoxy, a theologian and a professor at the University of Wittenberg; he served as general superintendent of Swedish Pomerania and died on 30 March 1712 in Stettin.

El grabado se representa con el atuendo clásico de un académico y clérigo de alto rango de la época con una pesada toga plisada y un cuello con volantes, aparece flanqueado por estanterías con libros y un imponente cortinaje lo que subraya su condición de erudito.
The engraving depicts him in the traditional attire of a high-ranking academic and clergyman of the period, wearing a heavy pleated gown and a ruffled collar; he is flanked by bookshelves and imposing drapery, which emphasise his status as a scholar.
