Francisco II de Francia fue rey de francia entre 1559 a 1560 y Rey Consorte de Escocia de su matrimonio con Maria I de Escocia desde 1558 hasta 1560.
Francis II of France was King of France from 1559 to 1560 and King Consort of Scotland from his marriage to Mary I of Scotland from 1558 to 1560.

Pierre Bertrand vincula directamente la estampa al entorno familiar y comercial de Larmessin, quien se formó y colaboró estrechamente con su suegro, el también impresor y comerciante de estampas Pierre Bertrand, heredando con el tiempo el célebre taller de la cabecera de La Pomme d'Or. En el lado opuesto se aprecia el privilegio real: "Avec Privil. du Roy".
Pierre Bertrand directly links the print to the family and business circle of Larmessin, who trained and collaborated closely with his father-in-law, the printer and print dealer Pierre Bertrand, eventually inheriting the renowned workshop at the top of La Pomme d'Or. On the opposite side, the royal privilege is visible: "Avec Privil. du Roy".

En la base del óvalo, interrumpiendo la cartela, destaca el escudo de armas real rematado por una corona cerrada, que presenta las tres lises de la monarquía francesa combinadas con las armas de la dinastía.
At the base of the oval, interrupting the cartouche, stands out the royal coat of arms topped by a closed crown, which features the three fleurs-de-lis of the French monarchy combined with the arms of the dynasty.
ICONOGRAFIA / ICONOGRAPHY:
Francisco II es representado de tres cuartos con vestimentas de corte renacentistas de gran suntuosidad, que incluyen un sombrero ornamentado con plumas y pedrería, un cuello de lechuguilla alto, un manto ribeteado de piel de armiño y el collar de la Orden de San Miguel con su correspondiente medalla colgante. La efigie sigue de cerca los modelos de los retratos pintados en el siglo XVI por la escuela de François Clouet, pero adaptados al gusto y la estética del grabado de aparato del reinado de Luis XIV.
Francis II is depicted in three-quarter view, wearing sumptuous Renaissance-style robes, including a hat adorned with feathers and jewels, a high ruff, a mantle trimmed with ermine fur, and the collar of the Order of Saint Michael with its corresponding pendant medal. The effigy closely follows the models of portraits painted in the 16th century by the school of François Clouet, but adapted to the taste and aesthetic of the formal engravings of Louis XIV's reign.
