Pio IV de nombre secular Giovanni Angelo Medici di Marignano una rama menor de los medici fue papa entre 1559 y 1565, luego del conclave mas largo del siglo XVI y de recibir la ayuda del monarca Español Felipe II colaboró en impulsar el concilio de trento a su vez estrecho los lazos de buena concordia con las diferentes casas reinantes del momento.
Pius IV of secular name Giovanni Angelo Medici di Marignano a minor branch of the Medici was pope between 1559 and 1565, after the longest conclave of the 16th century and after receiving the help of the Spanish monarch Philip II he collaborated in promoting the Council of Trent, he tightened the bonds of good concord with the different reigning houses of the time.

Retrato de medio cuerpo del Papa Pío IV, ligeramente de frente, con gorro clerical (camauro) y muceta con capucha.
Su mano derecha descansa sobre su pecho; al fondo, a la izquierda, cuelga una cortina drapeada, mientras que a la derecha se aprecian la cúpula y el campanario de la Basílica de San Pedro en Roma.
Centrado bajo el alféizar del retrato se encuentra el escudo papal con la paleta de los Médici, coronado por la tiara papal y las llaves cruzadas de San Pedro.

His right hand rests against his chest; in the background, a draped curtain hangs on the left, while the dome and campanile of St. Peter's Basilica in Rome are visible on the right.
Centered below the portrait sill is the papal coat of arms featuring the Medici palle, surmounted by the papal tiara and crossed keys of St. Peter.
