Tiziano Vecellio di Gregorio, conocido tradicionalmente como Tiziano o Ticiano ( c. 1488/1490 -, 27 de agosto de 1576), fue un Italiano del Renacimiento, uno de los mayores exponentes de la escuela Veneciana.

El trabajo de Larmessin destaca por el uso limpio del buril, con tramas cruzadas muy regulares en el fondo para realzar el volumen de la figura y texturas finas en la barba y los pliegues de la indumentaria, rasgos inconfundibles de la escuela de grabado francesa del siglo XVII.

This print originally comes from the famous work of the Flemish writer Isaac Bullart, entitled Académie des Sciences et des Arts, contenant les vies, & les éloges historiques des hommes illustres, whose first edition was published in 1682 (printed in Brussels by Foppens or in Amsterdam/Paris according to the shared issue of the time).
