El presente retrato corresponde a Jean Jacques Trivulse, Condotiero Italiano Marqués de Vigevano y Mariscal de Francia apodado el grande.

The present portrait corresponds to Jean Jacques Trivulse, Italian Condottiero, Marquis of Vigevano and Marshal of France nicknamed the great.

ICONOGRAFÍA / ICONOGRAPHY:

Trivulzio aparece representado con un gorro blando tradicional de finales del siglo XV o principios del XVI (bonetto) y un jubón de cuello alto con un cordón anudado de forma característica. El retrato es una representación retrospectiva, probablemente adaptada por Robert a partir de una medalla, fresco o pintura renacentista anterior (como las de Bramantino o la escuela de Leonardo).

Trivulzio is depicted wearing a traditional late 15th/early 16th-century soft cap (bonetto) and a high-collared doublet with a distinctively knotted cord tie at the neck. The portrait is a retrospective rendering, likely adapted by Robert from an earlier Renaissance medal, fresco, or painting (such as those by Bramantino or the school of Leonardo).

This print was originally published in Paris by the prominent print dealer and publisher Michel Odieuvre (and his heirs), intended to be part of important illustrated biographical works of the time, most notably in L'Europe Illustre (1755–1775) by Jean-Baptiste Joseph Boulliot and Jean-François Dreux du Radier.

OBSERVACIONES / OBSERVATION :

La huella de la plancha (plate mark) es claramente visible y se encuentra bien definida, mostrando unos márgenes limpios. El papel presenta un tono natural propio del envejecimiento del soporte, apreciándose la característica textura del papel verjurado hecho a mano. No se observan alteraciones críticas o foxing severo en la ventana de la imagen, manteniendo una excelente nitidez en las líneas del buril.

The plate mark is clearly visible and well-defined, with clean margins. The paper has a natural tone characteristic of the paper's age, and the distinctive texture of handmade laid paper is evident. There is no critical damage or severe foxing in the image window, and the burin lines remain excellently sharp.
