This intaglio engraving is a Central European religious work from the first half of the 18th century (circa 1700–1740) depicting the Risen Christ as the Saviour of the World. The piece is notable for its rich iconography and for the technical signatures that attest to its Baroque origins.

Johann Baptist Unterstainer fue el dibujante o diseñador de la composición (delineavit). Perteneciente a una saga de artistas activos entre el sur de Alemania, Austria y el Tirol hacia finales del siglo XVII y principios del XVIII.
Johann Baptist Unterstainer was the draughtsman or designer of the composition (delineavit). He belonged to a dynasty of artists who were active in southern Germany, Austria and Tyrol in the late 17th and early 18th centuries.

Jacob Andreas Fridrich el Viejo (1684–1751), célebre grabador y burilista alemán activo en Augsburgo (importante centro de impresión de la época). Las abreviaturas indican que él talló la plancha de cobre (sculpsit) y además actuó como editor encargándose de su publicación y distribución (excudit )
Jacob Andreas Friedrich the Elder (1684–1751), a renowned German engraver and printmaker who worked in Augsburg (a major centre of printing at the time). The abbreviations indicate that he engraved the copper plate (sculpsit) and also acted as publisher, overseeing its publication and distribution (excudit).

OBSERVACIONES / OBSERVATION:
La técnica empleada es el grabado al buril y aguafuerte sobre cobre. Se observa un soberbio dominio de las tramas cruzadas para modelar la musculatura del cuerpo y la textura de la madera. El contraste lumínico (claroscuro) está muy acentuado, guiando la mirada directamente desde el resplandor de la cabeza hacia la llaga del costado y la firmeza de la cruz.
Por su formato y la tipografía de la inscripción inferior, esta estampa pudo haber sido concebida de forma independiente para la devoción privada o como un frontispicio de gran calidad para alguna publicación teológica o devocional de la época.
The technique used is copperplate engraving and etching. There is a superb mastery of cross-hatching to render the musculature of the body and the texture of the wood. The contrast between light and shadow (chiaroscuro) is very pronounce drawing the eye directly from the radiance of the head to the wound in the side and the steadfastness of the cross.
Given its format and the typography of the inscription at the bottom, this print may have been conceived independently for private devotion or as a high-quality frontispiece for a theological or devotional publication of the period.
