El retrato emplea una fórmula clásica del Barroco tardío/Ilustración: un retrato de medio cuerpo enmarcado en un óvalo cerrado que descansa sobre un pedestal de piedra rústica que contiene la placa que da título a la obra. El fondo muestra el característico y preciso entramado horizontal y vertical paralelo de Balzer para simular la textura de un muro de piedra
The portrait utilizes a classic Late Baroque/Enlightenment formula: a half-length portrait enclosed within an immured oval frame resting upon a rusticated stone pedestal containing the titular tablet. The background displays Balzer's characteristic precise, parallel horizontal and vertical cross-hatching to simulate the texture of a stone wall.
