Charles Alexander de Calonne, fue un aristógrata Francés, Abogado, Politico y coleccionista de arte, Vizconde de Calonne, Caballero de la Orden de San Miguel entre otras distinciones, se exilio en Londres en 1787, regreso a París en 1802 con permiso de Napoleón, falleció un mes después de su llegada a Francia.

Retrato:
Calonne aparece de tres cuartos, mirando hacia la derecha y hacia el espectador. Viste peluca empolvada, abrigo de cuello alto y corbata de encaje, un retrato que reproduce fielmente la pintura original de Vigée Le Brun.
El marco ovalado que contiene el retrato descansa sobre un pedestal bajo de piedra decorado con delicados detalles florales grabados (posiblemente lirios, símbolo de Francia).

Calonne is depicted in a three-quarter view facing right, looking toward the viewer. He wears a powdered wig, a high-collared coat, and a lace cravat, closely mirroring Vigée Le Brun’s original painting.
Framing & Allegory:
The oval frame containing the portrait rests upon a low stone plinth or pedestal decorated with lightly engraved floral details (possibly lilies, symbolizing France).

Europa Magazine fue una publicación aparecida en Londres entre 1782 y 1826 ofreciendo información de personalidades notables del Reino Unido y Europa, todo ello acompañado de un bello grabado del personaje y realizado en buril, en ello colaboraron algunos de los grabadores Ingleses mas reputados del momento.
Europa Magazine was a publication published in London between 1782 and 1826 offering information on notable personalities of the United Kingdom and Europe, all accompanied by a beautiful engraving of the character and made in burin, in it collaborated some of the most reputable English engravers of the time.
