Theodor Gaza fue un humanista griego y uno de los ultimos escritores romanos de oriente traductor de aristoteles, desempeñó un papel crucial en el renacimiento de loas letras griegas en la Italia del siglo XV.
Theodor Gaza was a Greek humanist and one of the last Roman writers of the East, translator of Aristotle, who played a crucial role in the revival of Greek literature in 15th-century Italy.

Bust-length portrait facing three-quarters left. The subject is depicted with a prominent curled beard, wearing a traditional scholar's or philosopher's cap and a fur-lined mantle/robe.
Frame & Borders:
The portrait is set within an oval border bearing his name. The surrounding rectangular frame is highly decorative, featuring a distinct late-Renaissance/Mannerist naturalistic style:

Two detailed butterflies/moths.

Floral garlands interspersed with realistic insects (including a beetle/wasp on the lower left and lower right).

El retrato se enmarca en una característica orla de estilo manierista, decorada con motivos florales, insectos (mariposas, arañas/escarabajos en los laterales) y dos figuras fantásticas o grutescos en los ángulos inferiores flanqueando la cartela, elementos muy propios del repertorio decorativo de la familia De Bry.
The portrait is framed in a characteristic Mannerist-style border, decorated with floral motifs, insects (butterflies, spiders/beetles on the sides) and two fantastic figures or grotesques in the lower corners flanking the cartouche, elements very typical of the decorative repertoire of the De Bry family.
