The central portrait is framed within a stylized oval frame with intricate scroll motifs in the form of bands, characteristic of Northern Mannerism. A woven ring of laurel leaves encircles the sitter, a classical motif symbolizing victory, honor, and noble lineage.
Two winged cherubs holding undulating ribbons flank the upper part of the frame, serving as decorative elements that elevate the sitter to a celestial plane.
The lower section features a pedestal with scroll finials, designed as a classical monumental inscription plaque (tabula ansata), placing the portrait in a historicist format.

Pleated ruff (Krause): The prominent, multi-layered, concentric collar reflects the haute couture of late 16th-century Protestant Northern Europe. It symbolizes strict adherence to courtly decorum, dignity, and the social standing of the elite.

Embroidered bodice and sleeves: The fabric, adorned with intricate floral motifs and raised embroidery in gold/silver thread (brocade), highlights material wealth and aristocratic status.
Hat/cap: A close-fitting hat with lace trim frames the face, combining the modest decorum befitting a high-ranking noblewoman with refined courtly elegance.

IHS monogram pendant: A medallion bearing the IHS monogram (the first three letters of Jesus' name in Greek: ΙΗΣOUS) hangs on her chest. Positioned prominently over the heart, it symbolizes personal piety, Christian devotion, and moral virtue.

Inscribed heraldry: Although no coat of arms is explicitly depicted, the Latin text clearly describes his dynastic lineage, citing his membership in the Quatuor Comites Imperii (the four chief counts of the Holy Roman Empire) to solidify his high sovereign preeminence.

( c. 1590–1600 ), S / XVI

The design was engraved directly onto a polished copper plate using a steel burin.

Chiaroscuro and hatching: Fine parallel hatching and dense cross-hatching create profound tonal contrasts in the oval background and the shadowed areas of the motif.
Pointillism: Very fine stippling is used around the face, neck, and chest to represent subtle skin tones and smooth transitions in the highlights.
Textile representation: The varying density of lines and rhythmic curved strokes simulate the stiff, pleated texture of the millstone ruff and the woven pattern of the embroidered bodice.
