El Diurnal Monástico o breviario es un libro litúrgico que contiene todos los rezos necesarios para cumplir con la liturgia de las horas, para uso de los clérigos, religiosos y fieles católicos .
The Monastic Diurnal or breviary is a liturgical book containig all the prayers necessary to fulfill the liturgy of the hours, for use by clerics, religious and the Catholic faithful.

Esto apunta habitualmente a la mano del prolífico grabador francés Jérôme David (Hieronymus David, c. 1590–1670) o de algún miembro de su entorno familiar (como Charles o Henry David), conocidos por este tipo de grabados religiosos, retratos y frontispicios de la época.
In the lower left corner, the signature "David fecit" (Made by David) can be seen. This usually points to the hand of the prolific French engraver Jérôme David (Hieronymus David, c. 1590–1670) or a member of his family (such as Charles or Henry David), known for this type of religious engraving, portraits, and frontispieces of the period.

Este tipo de estampas exentas o integradas en libros eran muy comunes en la Francia del siglo XVII durante la efervescencia de la Contrarreforma y la edición de textos litúrgicos para las distintas órdenes religiosas.
These types of prints, either freestanding or integrated into books, were very common in 17th-century France during the height of the Counter-Reformation and the publication of liturgical texts for the various religious orders.
