ICONOGRAFIA / ICONOGRAPHY :

The portrait shows the monarch in profile wearing an open crown over an oriental-style turban or exotic headdress, a common iconographic convention in the 17th century for representing rulers of the High Middle Ages. A small coat of arms surmounted by a crown is visible in the lower center. The marginal handwritten annotations in ink ("20", "moreri 12.3.p. 40.") suggest an old collection arrangement or a bibliographic reference to Louis Moréri's renowned historical dictionary.
