Descripción del sujeto: 

Retrato de perfil de tres cuartos hacia la izquierda de una mujer anciana . Presenta rasgos faciales marcados y profundos, con el cabello recogido hacia atrás en un moño bajo.

Vestimenta y atributos:

Lleva sobre los hombros un mantón o pelerina de paño grueso con flecos, cruzado sobre el pecho. La indumentaria refleja la vestimenta tradicional de las clases populares Españolas  de finales del siglo XIX y principios del XX.

Gesto y actitud: 

Mirada contemplativa e introspectiva, capturada con un enfoque naturalista y realista que prioriza la dignificación del personaje popular sobre el idealizado.

A three-quarter profile portrait facing left of an elderly woman. She has striking, deep facial features, with her hair pulled back in a low bun. Clothing and attributes:

She wears a fringed shawl or cape over her shoulders, crossed over her chest. The clothing reflects the traditional dress of the Spanish working classes of the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Gesture and attitude:

A contemplative and introspective gaze, captured with a naturalistic and realistic approach that prioritizes the dignity of the common person over an idealized one.

PHILIPPE DE MORNAY  ( 1549 - 1623 )

Philippe de Mornay, Señor de Plessis Marly fue un escritor, Militar y diplomático al servicio de Gaspar de Coligny y Enrique I Borbón-Conde,  gobernardor de la ciudad de Saumur, fundó una universidad Calvinista de notable prestigio, perdió la confianza de Luis XIII de Francia a causa de una revuelta Hugonote, destituido de su cargo y cerrada la Universidad en 1621, falleció dos años mas tarde en su castillo de La Foret-sur Sévre.  

Philippe de Mornay, Lord of Plessis Marly was a writer, military man and diplomat in the service of Gaspar de Coligny and Henri I Bourbon-Conde, governor of the city of Saumur, founded a Calvinist university of remarkable prestige, lost the confidence of Louis XIII of France because of a Huguenot revolt, removed from office and closed the university in 1621, died two years later in his castle of La Foret-sur Sévre.

ICONOGRAFÍA / ICONOGRAPHY :

Retrato típicamente manierista/barroco temprano, de busto y tres cuartos, inscrito en un marco oval sobre un fondo rayado de líneas horizontales y verticales. El personaje viste la característica indumentaria civil de principios del siglo XVII, con un jubón acuchillado y un cuello rígido alzado.

A typically Mannerist/early Baroque bust-and-three-quarter portrait, set in an oval frame against a striped background of horizontal and vertical lines. The subject wears the characteristic civilian attire of the early 17th century, with a slashed doublet and a stiff, upturned collar.

HENRY CATHERINE D'AVILA  ( 1576 - 1631 )

Henry Catherine d'Avila fue un gentilhombre descendiente de una familia noble de la localidad Española de Ávila, militar,  historiador y diplomático al servicio de la República de Venecia, nació en la localidad de Piodde di Sacco en Pádua, sus padres fueron condestables del Reino de  Chipre, formo parte de la corte de Catalina de Médicis, lucho en las guerras civiles de Francia, fue gobernardor de las posesiones Venecianas de las  Islas de Tenos. Cattara y Zara, murió asesinado cerca de Verona.

Henry Catherine d'Avila was a gentleman descending from a noble family of the Spanish town of Avila, military, historian and diplomat in the service of the Republic of Venice, born in the town of Piodde di Sacco in Padua, his parents were constables of the Kingdom of Cyprus, was part of the court of Catherine de Medici, fought in the civil wars in France, was governor of the Venetian possessions of the Tenos Islands. Cattara and Zara, died assassinated near Verona.
