Un joven guerrero o cortesano se arrodilla con sumisión y respeto ante un dignatario mayor que viste ropajes y tocado de estilo orientalizante (un turbante o tocado exótico propio de las representaciones del Viejo Testamento o de las crónicas de la Antiguedad clásica como la historia de Alejandro Magno, Ciro o pasajes del Imperio Romano/Persa). Dos figuras femeninas asisten a la escena con gestos de mediación o atestiguación.

El grabado muestra el uso preciso del burín para el modelado de los ropajes y las columnas monumentales mediante tramas cruzadas densas (taille-douce). Se aprecian las líneas características del sombreado de la época para otorgar volumen tridimensional. El papel revela ligeras ondulaciones en el margen superior, lo que apunta a un soporte antiguo de época (posiblemente verjurado), típico de las ilustraciones destinadas a insertarse como hojas exentas en crónicas o volúmenes in-quarto o in-folio.
