ANTOINE DE BOURBON

ANTONIO  DE  BOURBON      ( 1518 - 1562  )

Antonio de Borbón fue un  príncipe de sangre Francés, Duque de Borbón y de Vendome , Conde de Beaumont, Marle y Soissons y Rey Consorte de Navarra a través de su  esposa Juana de Albret (1555 - 1562 ) con el nombre de Antonio I de Navarra, teniente general de los ejércitos de Francia durante las guerras de religión entre católicos y protestantes, fue herido en el asedio de Ruan, un mes mas tarde falleció a causa de las heridas a los 44 años de edad, recibiendo sepultura en la Colegiata de San Jorge de Vendome.

Anthony of Bourbon was a French prince of blood, Duke of Bourbon and Vendome, Count of Beaumont, Marle and Soissons and King Consort of Navarre through his wife Jeanne d'Albret (1555 - 1562) with the name of Anthony I of Navarre, Lieutenant General of the armies of France during the wars of religion between Catholics and Protestants, he was wounded in the siege of Rouen, a month later he died of his wounds at 44 years of age, receiving burial in the Collegiate Church of St. George of Vendome

Vestimenta:

Lleva una capa corta (manteau) ricamente estampada y bordada sobre un jubón con aberturas y calzas abullonadas (gregues). Un prominente cuello alto/gorguera enmarca su rostro.

Accesorios:

Lleva una gorra plana adornada con una pequeña pluma, un medallón que cuelga de una larga cadena sobre su pecho y apoya la mano izquierda cerca del pomo de su espada.

Postura:

Una clásica postura aristocrática de contrapposto, con su sombra proyectada suavemente hacia la derecha sobre un sencillo plano de planta con líneas horizontales.

Costume:

He wears a heavily patterned, embroidered short cape (manteau) over a slashed doublet and puffed trunk hose (gregues). A prominent high collar/ruff frames his face. Accoutrements:

He wears a flat cap ornamented with a small feather, a medallion hanging from a long chain across his chest, and rests his left hand near the pommel of his sword. Stance:

A classic aristocratic contrapposto stance, with his shadow cast softly to the right on a simple, horizontally-hatched floor plan

 "L'Historie de France" par MM Velly, Villaret & Garnier, 1 edition , Chez Saillant  et Nyon a Paris, 1770  a su vez aparece el mismo grabado en el libro " Les monuments de la monarchie Francoise"  4 volumen Paris  1733 por el monje benedictino de la congregación de San Mauro, historiador, teólogo y arqueólogo Bernard de Montfaucon  ( 1655 - 1741 ) .

Pierre le Courayer fue un teólogo Francés de la orden se San Agustín, bibliotecario en la abadía de Santa Genoveva, en 1723 realizo unos escritos simpatizando con la causa Anglicana recibiendo la desaprobación del arzobispo de París y su posterior excomunión , trasladándose a Londres fue investido Doctor por la universidad de Oxford impartiendo conocimientos en teologia, recibió una pensión vitalicia de 200 libras por parte de la Reina Carolina de Brandenbourg-Ansbach, esposa consorte del rey Jorge II de la Gran Bretaña,, falleció a la edad de 94 años en la ciudad de Londres recibiendo sepultura en la abadía de WEstminster.

Pierre le Courayer was a French theologian of the order of Saint Augustine, librarian in the abbey of Saint Genevieve, in 1723 he made some writings sympathizing with the Anglican cause receiving the disapproval of the archbishop of Paris and his later excommunication, Moving to London he was invested Doctor by the University of Oxford imparting knowledge in theology, he received a life pension of 200 pounds from Queen Caroline of Brandenbourg-Ansbach, wife consort of King George II of Great Britain, he died at the age of 94 years in the city of London receiving burial in the abbey of WEstminster.

La vestimenta clerical (sobrepelliz y cuello) está representada con líneas nítidas y definidas que resaltan los profundos pliegues de la tela. El fondo del óvalo presenta un denso tramado horizontal y diagonal que realza el retrato.

The clerical attire (surplice and collar) is rendered with crisp, sharp line work to delineate the deep folds of the fabric. The background of the oval features a dense horizontal and diagonal cross-hatching to make the portrait pop.

Jean-Baptiste Rousseau fue un poeta y un dramaturgo Francés,  celebres por sus ingeniosos epigramas, desde 1701 fue miembro de la Academia de Inscripciones, en 1712 es procesado por difamación y condenado al exilio perpetuo, vivió en Suiza y Belgica,  recibió la protección de distintas personalidades en especial la del príncipe Eugénio Francisco de Saboya, falleció en Bruselas en 1741 a la edad de 70 años.

Jean-Baptiste Rousseau was a French poet and playwright, famous for his witty epigrams, from 1701 he was a member of the Academy of Inscriptions, in 1712 he was prosecuted for defamation and sentenced to perpetual exile, lived in Switzerland and Belgium, received the protection of various personalities especially that of Prince Eugénio Francisco of Savoy, died in Brussels in 1741 at the age of 70 years.

Francois de la Mothe fue un escritor y pensador libertino,  miembro de la academia Francesa de las letras, tutor de Luis XV y preceptor del Duque de Orleans a partir de 1647 renuncio a todas sus obligaciones en la corte dedicándose a las letras y a viajar.

François de la Mothe was a libertine writer and thinker, member of The French Academy of Letters, tutor of Louis xV and preceptor of The Duke of Orlenas , in 1647 he gave up all his duties af court and devoted himself to literature and travel.

ICONOGRAFÍA / ICONOGRAPHY :

La figura retratada aparece de medio cuerpo, girada hacia la derecha, enmarcada en un marco ovalado que imita la piedra. La composición circundante, realizada en trampantojo, presenta vanitas y atributos intelectuales: un globo terráqueo, una pluma y un tintero, libros encuadernados, una guirnalda de laurel o flores, y una pequeña linterna de cristal sobre una pila de volúmenes.

The sitter is depicted half-length turned to the right, housed in an oval stone-like frame. The surrounding trompe-l'œil composition features vanitas and intellectual attributes: a terrestrial globe, a quill and inkwell, bound books, a laurel or floral swag, and a small glass lantern sitting atop a stack of volume.
