El Rey David lo describe la bíblia como un Rey justo y bueno, fue elegido por Dios para gobernar Israel, parece vivió entre los años 1040 y 995 A.C. Se le representa con un arpa en donde sus cuerdas musicales según la leyenda conectaban el mundo terrenal con el celestial.

Sostiene en su mano izquierda un cetro rematado en flor de lis, mientras que su mano derecha descansa sobre su tradicional arpa (decorada con un mascarón antropomorfo en el clavijero).
Vestimenta:
Viste una armadura de estilo romano (barguenería con lambrequines o pteruges leoninos en el cinturón), cubierto por un pesado manto real y un turbante coronado que evoca el exotismo oriental otorgado habitualmente a los monarcas del Antiguo Testamento.
Fondo:
A la izquierda, se divisa un paisaje urbano fortificado con una torre o campanario que alude a la Ciudad de David (Jerusalén), junto a una fuente clasicista. A la derecha, arquitectura palaciega de estilo renacentista.
