El personaje se muestra de perfil hacia la izquierda, luciendo una gorra o bonete característico de la moda de la primera mitad del siglo XVI, una vestidura ribeteada con piel y un jubón ricamente decorado con motivos florales/estrellados. En sus manos porta lo que parece ser el bastón de mando militar.
Enmarcado (Ornato):
El retrato se inscribe dentro de un medallón u óvalo ceñido por una corona de laurel, símbolo clásico de la victoria militar y la condición de héroe histórico. En la zona inferior, sosteniendo la composición, se sitúa una cartela barroca de tipo vegetal con volutas en los extremos, donde queda rotulado el nombre del retratado.

Se trata de una estampa realizada mediante grabado a burin (talla dulce) sobre papel, característica de la producción editorial centroeuropea o francesa de la segunda mitad del siglo XVII. El uso de líneas paralelas densas en el fondo para dar relieve al óvalo y el sutil modelado de las sombras en las carnaciones y el ropaje denotan la mano de un grabador profesionalizado en series iconográficas o de biografías ilustradas de hombres ilustres .
This is a print made using burin engraving (intaglio) on paper, a technique characteristic of Central European and French publishing in the second half of the 17th century. The use of dense parallel lines in the background to give relief to the oval and the subtle modeling of shadows in the flesh tones and clothing indicate the hand of a professional engraver specializing in iconographic series or illustrated biographies of illustrious men .

Por la tipografía utilizada, la orla de laurel y la cartela exenta de texto explicativo inferior, este tipo de planchas solía formar parte de obras históricas biográficas ilustradas editadas en los Países Bajos o Francia durante el siglo XVII .
Because of the typography used, the laurel wreath and the cartouche without explanatory text below, this type of plate used to be part of illustrated biographical historical works published in the Netherlands or France during the 17th century .
